La Jolla artist David Rearwin has been engaged in photography for over forty years. During this period he also studied art history, drawing, sumi-e, Asian calligraphy and plastic arts in the U.S. and abroad. With the advent of digital imagery and processing, he progressed to a merger of studio art and photography. His primary visual emphasis is on the interplay of motion and form, as captured in the present moment. A surfer since the 1950s, he is drawn to surf art in all its forms, whether surfers and bodysurfers riding waves or the power and majesty of surf itself. He has a lifelong love affair with La Jolla, as shown in his images of the La Jolla coastline, village and surroundings.
