Description: A small group of seals uses an isolated rock ledge to sun and relax after hauling out of the sea. Large waves created by winter swells form surging eddies around the seals' resting place, and the wet surface of the rock indicates that they may not stay dry for long. The seal closest to the wave looks around anxiously, as if calculating the margin of safety. At least one of the animals (the sixth from the left) appears to be a young pup.
